Your most-asked skincare questions for summer, answered by the OSKIA team.
Do I still need SPF on a cloudy day?
Yes. Up to 80% of UV rays penetrate cloud cover. UV radiation is present year-round and does not correlate directly with temperature or visible sunshine. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 applied daily is the single most effective anti-ageing step you can take.
Can I use retinoids in summer?
Yes, with sensible precautions. Retinoids increase the skin's sensitivity to UV, so a daily SPF is non-negotiable. Use your retinoid at night and apply SPF every morning. Our Super-R Retinoid Capsules include antioxidant co-factors (vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10) which provide additional protection against environmental stress.
My skin feels dehydrated in the heat — what should I use?
Heat accelerates transepidermal water loss. Lightweight hydrating serums with hyaluronic acid and MSM are ideal. Our SPF 30 Vitamin Face Cream features encapsulated Swiss Glacier Water for prolonged hydration throughout the day, making it an excellent dual-purpose choice in summer.
Should I change my cleanser in summer?
If your skin becomes oilier in heat, a gentle enzyme cleanser is a good summer choice. Our Renaissance Cleansing Gel uses fermented pumpkin enzymes to deep-cleanse pores without stripping, and is effective enough for summer skin without disrupting the barrier.
Is my antioxidant serum still relevant in summer?
More so than ever. UV radiation and pollution generate free radicals in the skin even when SPF is applied. An antioxidant layer worn beneath your SPF significantly reduces oxidative damage. Our CityLife range and SPF products both contain astaxanthin — one of the most potent natural antioxidants available.
