Skincare for Teenage Skin

Teenage years can be challenging, especially when it comes to managing skin health. Hormonal changes, improper skincare routines, and lifestyle habits can all impact the condition of your skin. To help you navigate this period effectively, here are some dos and don'ts for teenage skin care.

Don'ts:

Don't Overwash: While cleansing is important, overwashing can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Stick to cleansing twice daily.

Don't Pick at Blemishes: Resist the urge to pick, squeeze, or pop pimples, as this can worsen inflammation, lead to scarring, and spread bacteria. Instead, treat blemishes with topical acne treatments such as our Violet Water D-Spot, which helps to clear and calm individual blemishes.

Don't Share Makeup or Skincare Products: Sharing makeup brushes, sponges, or skincare products can transfer bacteria and lead to breakouts or infections. Keep your personal products to yourself to maintain skin hygiene.

Don't Overload on Products: Using too many skincare products at once can overwhelm your skin and lead to irritation or breakouts. Stick to a simple routine with a few essential products tailored to your skin's needs.

Don't Sleep with Makeup On: Sleeping with makeup on can clog pores, leading to acne and other skin issues. Make it a habit to remove all makeup before bedtime to allow your skin to breathe and regenerate overnight. Try our Renaissance Cleansing Gel together with our Vitamin Eye Make Up Remover to effectively remove all make up without any skin irritation.

Don't Use Dirty Hands on Your Face: Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, as this can transfer bacteria and oils, leading to breakouts and irritation.

Do's:

Cleanse Twice Daily: If you sweat at night, wash your face with a gentle cleanser every morning and evening to remove dirt, oil, and impurities that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. Try our Violet Water Clearing Cleanser for blemish control in the evenings or our refreshing Citylife Cleansing Concentrate for anti-pollution protection.

Moisturise Every Day: Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated without clogging pores. Moisturizing is essential even if you have oily skin. Use our Violet Water Hydra-Gel for clarifying the skin or our Nutri-Active Day Cream for intense hydration.

Use Sunscreen: Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF daily, even on cloudy days. This helps prevent sunburns, premature aging, and reduces the risk of skin cancer. Our SPF 30 Vitamin Face Cream is a mineral sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum daily defence in a cooling and calming formula.

Eat a Balanced Diet: Incorporate fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains into your diet. Foods rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals can promote clear, radiant skin.

Change Pillowcases Regularly: Dirty pillowcases can harbour bacteria and oil, leading to breakouts. Aim to change your pillowcase at least once a week to prevent skin irritation.

Invest in Gentle Products that are Age Appropriate: Treat your skin with care by avoiding harsh scrubbing, abrasive products or strong acids. Opt for gentle exfoliants such as our Liquid Mask and skincare products formulated for your skin type, if you have oily or blemished skin try our Violet Water range, if sensitive try our Rest Day Comfort range. You should only exfoliate 1-2 times a week.
