After hibernating all winter wrapped up in layers and blasting dehydrating central heating, switching to our summer clothes can be daunting. Among other things (guilty of skipping on gym when it's too dark and cold!) we tend to neglect the skin on our bodies during the colder months. Don't worry, we’ve rounded up key tips to help get your skin looking its healthy glowing best, so you can flaunt your gorgeous summer dresses confidently!
1. EXFOLIATE REGULARLY
Our skin sheds cells every minute of every day - which results in dull, dry looking skin, particularly sun exposed skin as it dehydrates quickly. However much moisturiser you apply our skin will never look glowing without removing these dead skin cells. Rejuvenation treatments, such as exfoliations and nurturing masks, restore the skin’s health and balance. To ensure a healthy glow for the summer months be sure to exfoliate 1–2 times a week. OSKIA’s Micro-Exfoliating Balm contains the finest silica and MSM granules, which dissolve on contact with water forming an anti-inflammatory milk to buff away tired cells and stimulate regeneration. As a creamy, nutrient-rich balm that will leave skin feeling super, super soft and smooth.
2. BODY CREAMS WITH ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS
After exfoliating and buffing away dead skin cells your skin is perfectly prepped for a surge of hydration, which will add luminosity to your skin and improve overall skin tone. We recommend using a body cream that contains AHA’s like our Renaissance Hand & Body Cream. Deliciously scented with Rose and Camomile, it contains gently exfoliating natural AHA’s from Lemon, Grape and Pineapple that benefit all ageing concerns whilst removing dull, dry skin cells.
3. FOCUS ON TARGETING PROBLEM AREAS
Keratosis Pilaris
If you suffer from Keratosis Pilaris (those annoying little red bumps on the back of your upper arms) then it’s likely you’ll want to rid these before exposing bare arms this summer. Whilst there is no definitive cure for this condition (unfortunately it's a very common genetic follicular condition which causes an excess of Keratin production that accumulates within the hair follicles forming numerous tiny rough bumps on the skin and commonly found in people with very dry skin and/or a vitamin A deficiency), daily exfoliating or using a good natural body brush and moisturising with a vitamin and AHA rich cream, such as our Renaissance Hand & Body Cream, can definitely ease these bumps while smoothing and brightening the skin on your arms.
Sporadic Body Acne
Just as people struggle with acne on their face, many people also battle acne on other areas of the body - such as their chest and back. You should treat these areas just as you would treat a breakout on your face, do not pick or squeeze and make sure to exfoliate. Try avoiding body and facial scrubs with coarse granules as they can scratch delicate, sun exposed skin. We recommend our Renaissance Mask for breakout prone skin. It deeply cleanses, reduces blockages and spot formation, whilst boosting skin radiance and luminosity.
Ingrown Hair
If you wax or shave you will be well aware of the bane of ingrown hairs. Ingrown hair are usually hairs that have grown out of the skin, curled back round and re-entered the skin, they can occur when the hair follicle becomes clogged with dead skin cells, forcing the hair to grow sideways. Our Renaissance Hand and Body Lotion is the perfect remedy as it will aid the skin's natural exfoliation process to keep those pesky ingrown hairs at bay.
