Summer Skin Nutrition

Summer has well and truly arrived in London and the rest of the UK. Summer is not only the season of long sunny days, summer clothes and beach getaways, but also the time when we need to give our skin a little more attention on the protection front. We all know that Vitamin D and a bit of sunshine makes us feel good (experts suggest around 20 minutes of direct sun exposure is enough to top up Vitamin D levels), leaving us looking more bronzed and healthier, but the affects of too much sun exposure can be dangerous for our skin and health. Excess sun exposure accelerates the ageing process, can cause dry, dehydrated skin, sun burn and unwanted pigmentation, not to mention heighten the risk of skin cancer.
Our bodies are made to obtain nutritional elements from our diet and our skin is no exception, so whilst we give skin a helping hand with the topical products we apply, skin nutrition works best when it’s applied from the inside and out. During the summer months OSKIA Founder Georgie Cleeve recommends a diet rich in anti-inflammatories and anti-oxidants such as sweet potatoes, asparagus, salmon, fish eggs, citrus fruits, watermelon, dark chocolate and spinach to boost skin health, rehydrate and protect.
Georgie has also designed two deliciously nutritious smoothies specifically to hydrate the skin and help improve sun protection. Team OSKIA have tested both and we strongly recommend adding them to your breakfast mix. Enjoy!
