WHAT IS SKIN NEEDLING?
Nothing is more amazing than the skin's own ability to heal itself. The concept of skin needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy) is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage such as cuts, burns or other abrasions.
Immediately after an injury occurs to the skin, the body removes the damaged collagen, elastin and other structures, which are then replaced by freshly made components. Skin needling allows for controlled stimulation of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating thousands of tiny micro-channels using a safe, pain-free roller containing tiny needles that trigger new collagen synthesis. Additionally, these tiny channels remain open for up to an hour allowing our specialised collagen boosting serum to deeply penetrate the skin.
The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin.
Results can be quite spectacular.
WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY?
Unlike traditional DermaRolling which uses deeper needles and requires anaesthetic, or lasers that remove the skin’s surface, our Micro Needling uses smaller needles that do not reach the capillary layer. These needles stimulate collagen production, but do not cause severe redness, bleeding or extended downtime. The entire procedure is painless and quick – and all you will feel is a mild tingling and a slight pinkness similar to mild sunburn that will usually disappear within a few hours, not days or weeks.
- Your skin is cleansed and fully prepared including a deep cleansing mask to remove surface impurities.
- Our therapist will then gently roll the micro needle roller across the skin, concentrating on problematic areas.
- A highly active post-treatment serum is then applied which will quickly permeate through the new channels deep into the skin’s tissue.
- You will then be advised on post-treatment care.
