Swiss Cress Liposomes

This wonderful ingredient is ideal for the treatment of dark spots, age spots and hyper-pigmentation and clinically proven to reduce melanin production by 47% at only 0.4%. We use 2-4% within our OSKIA products.

Swiss garden cress sprouts are rich in sulforaphane, a powerful antioxidant phytonutrient that effectively inhibits pigmentation by targeting two key steps in the melanin cascade:

  •  Neutralization of reactive oxygen species
  •  Inhibition of α-MSH, a natural hormone which stimulates skin pigmentation.

To aid absorption into the skin and to target melanocytes, garden cress extract was incorporated into liposomes.
The whitening effect of cress liposomes was proven both in vitro and in vivo. Its mechanism was clearly demonstrated and its lightening efficacy was proven both on Asian and Caucasian skin types.

BENEFITS

  • Effectively inhibits melanin formation
  • Provides exceptional brightening benefits
  • Fades the appearance of dark spots and discolouration
  • Reduces the effects of daytime stress
  • Evens skin tone

Swiss Garden Cress Sprouts, a Rich Source of Sulforaphane

Garden cress is rich in phytonutrients, also called “superfoods”, a class of compounds found in edible plants and having potent medicinal properties. Sulforaphane, which is well-known for its capacity to neutralize reactive oxidants, is the predominant phytonutrient in garden cress. Sprouts are much richer in phytonutrients than the mature plant. That is the reason why Cress Liposomes are prepared from 4 to 5 day old garden cress sprouts.

Pigmentation Process and Reactive Oxidants

Over time, skin loses its glow, developing more and more age-induced or sun-induced dark spots indicating a disturbance of the pigmentation process. This complex reaction is activated by sunlight and notably by reactive oxidants generated by UV in keratinocytes. But some other factors generating oxidants and free radicals like smoke, pollution and lifestyle can lead to excess concentrations of oxidants in the skin causing premature ageing and pigmentation disorders.

A Two Steps Mechanism of Reducing Age spots/Pigmentation

Swiss Garden Cress Liposomes interfere at two steps in the pigmentation process:

  • It deactivates reactive oxidants generated by UV in keratinocytes by stimulating the cellular antioxidant defence system.
  • Inhibits the binding of α-MSH on melanocytes. α-MSH is a natural hormone which induces skin pigmentation.
